SALMON RIVER SPOKES AND CHROME DEMOLITION DERBY
SPECIFICATIONS, RULES AND REGULATIONS
SPECIFICATIONS:
- Driver’s meeting in June. Driver Entry Fee is $25.00 per car.
- Limit of 2 Pit crew per car. There is a $2.50 fee for each pit
member.
- Extra pit passes are $25.00.
- ****Minimum **** age is 18 years old.
- Sponsor sheets must be turned in at the Driver's Meeting.
- Powder Puff drivers are $10.00.
- Sign up for specific car between 1 and 4:00 p.m.
- NO REFUNDS. Winner takes all.
- Herby Derby-driver’s entry fee is $25.00 per car; $2.50 per car.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:
CAR PREPARATION
-
Remove all glass from car, including mirrors. There will be an inspection inside of car doors. No sand or added weight.

Remove all plastic, including grills, hard rubber grills, taillights, trim, etc.

Remove all cast metal.

Remove trailer hitches.

Remove all chrome, including door handles.
-
********** Maximum tread depth 3/8 inch**********.

No tractor type tires. No heavy lugs. No paddle tires. Regular all- season car tires only! DOT approved.

The driver’s door must be reinforced with a “grader blade” or something equal. Reinforcement shall not extend more than 6 inches beyond the driver’s door panel in any direction. 4-door cars must have doorpost from floor to roof. Open-post cars must be reinforced at an angle to middle of car floor.All items must be removed from the trunk (jacks, spare tires, tire irons, etc.)Weld or chain the trunk and doors. Maximum 3/8 inch rod may be used as filler for welding doors and trunk. If welding is used, a maximum of ¼ of the perimeter of the opening may be welded.

Hood must be chained or bolted.

½ inch min steel bar or better must cross from center of windshield area to roof . welded or bolted

Batteries must be fastened securely to the car. (Bolted. No wire, no rope, no bungee or plumber tape). All battery cables, wiring, switches, buttons, and coil resistors must be securely installed in the car. The battery must be covered with a non-conductive material such as carpet, foam rubber, or plastic to prevent acid spills.

All factory fuel tanks must be removed from the car. A boat tank, not exceeding 6 gallons is recommended. No more than 5 gallons of fuel will be permitted in the tank. All fuel tanks must be bolted (no wire, no rope, no bungee, no plumber tape) or securely fastened in the back seat area (no plumbing tape). All fueling lines must be clamped. No electric fuel pumps, unless original equipment.

There will be no alcohol in the pits. Anyone drinking will be automatically kicked out, be it the driver and/or the pit crew.

There will be no fighting in the pits.

No modification to the suspension unless it is original manufacturer equipment.

Reasonable bumper height.

Windshield area must be covered with chicken wire or hardware cloth (hog wire).

Eliminate all sharp edges or objects for your safety.
-
Eighteen inch legible number on the left and right doors as well as the top of the car.

The area between the firewall and the back of the front seat is the critical safety area.

Any form of safety reinforcement on the driver’s and Passenger’s side is approved. RULES AND REGULATIONS: PIT AREA*1. All derby cars must be at the fairgrounds on the Demolition Derby day between *2. Drivers and pit crew members must be present at 4:00 p.m. for car inspection-both male and female drivers. No meeting, no driving. 5:00 p.m. driver’s meeting.Only one service vehicle per car. Trailers must be parked in the designated area. Driver and 2 pit crew members in the pit area. $25.00 each per extra pit pass. Cars must be removed from fairgrounds by 10:00 am the day after the Demolition Derby. Cars left after 10:00 will be removed at the owner’s expense . $50.00 plus tow cost. No reckless driving in the pit area. This includes cars and motorcycles. Offending drivers will be disqualified. The driver is responsible for his pit crew.*8. No pulling of cars with other vehicles to straighten in the pit area. Take cars away from pit area to yank on other cars.
HEAT RULES
- Drivers must wear a seat belt and DOT approved helmet. (No football Helmets).
- Each car will have an official picked at random.
- Drivers will be given a “time limit” flag after approved
inspection.
- There will be a one-minute contact rule. If you have not made contact within one minute, the official will signal you to break our “time limit” flag. A hit is moving your car a “car-length” away and then hitting a live car. No rocking
hits.
- Logs are part of the arena. No person will make any attempt to remove a car from the logs. The one minute “time limit applies to this also. The official will signal you to break your “time limit” flag.
- In case of a rollover or fire, officials will stop the derby immediately and evacuate.
- Officials can disqualify a car at any time for safety infractions.
- IF THE E.M.T. LOOK AT YOU FOR MEDICAL REASONS YOU WILL BE OUT OF THAT HEAT OR MAIN (SAFETY FIRST)
- Any contact made to the driver’s door is an automatic disqualification. Officials will make a ruling on accidental contact to the driver’s door.
- Drivers and officials must keep eye contact.
- Drivers must remain in their cars with their helmets on until the heat is over.

- Last three cars “making contact” make the Main.
- No team play. This is an individual contact sport. Team play will result In
disqualification. The head official will announce result!
HERBY DERBY RULES
- Compact cars only. Four or six (no eight) cylinder. No turbo charged cars. No 4-wheel drives.

Tire size no greater than 14 inches. Car preparation is the same as the big cars. No electric fuel pumps or electric fans unless originally equipped on the vehicle. One heat; winner takes all. $25.00 per car. Driver’s door protection required (grader blade, etc.). 8” X 8” fire access in hood (center recommended). Maximum of 101” wheel base.
MAIN EVENT RULES AND REGULATIONS
Same as heat rules (1-10 )except for rule #11. Last car making contact takes first place. The second to the last car making contact takes 2nd place. The third to the last car making contact tales 3rd place
GENERAL RULES:
The number of heats will be determined by the number of cars entered in the derby. All three cars transfer to the Main. Each receives $50.00. All remaining cars still running will qualify for the Beer Heat and the Powder Puff (Women only). Minors winning the Beer Heat will be awarded a prize of similar value. Main Event-1st place-$1200, 2nd place-$800, 3rd place-$300. Awards of $50.00 will be presented for the hardest hit given and received. There will be a $50.00 prize for the pretty car award. Ugliest car award $1.14. Any drivers or pit crew members caught fighting or arguing with an official will be disqualified and removed from the fairgrounds.
Please help to follow these rules and regulations so the Derby will run smoothly and without any serious accidents.
